Pedestrian crossing lights go ahead of schedule (May 2007)

A full pedestrian crossing at BHASVIC lights near Seven Dials is being built in March 2008, well ahead of schedule thanks to a decision by the former Labour City Council's Environment Committee it has been confirmed.

"I am delighted that the crossing is going ahead, it will mean a safe crossing for BHASVIC students as well as local residents," said Cllr Melanie Davis.

"It is a victory for the residents who have campaigned so hard for this over the last few years. I think there's now a wider need to address road safety issues in the area as a whole, and this will be the focus of some campaigning I am planning to carry out in this community over the coming months."

The surgeries, I am going' to go mobile in 2008 again on the first Saturday of every month.. I plan to leaflet a small area of roads in advance with my details asking people to make an appointment, call or invite me to come and talk to them to discuss the local issues that concern them.
